About Walk Across Illinois

In 2001, Pat Quinn walked 167 miles across Illinois from the Mississippi River to Lake Michigan as part of a campaign for better health care. Today, Walk Across Illinois honors Governor Quinn's legacy with free health initiatives that help people achieve fit and healthy lifestyles through walking and other physical activities.

OUR MISSION

Walk Across Illinois creates opportunities for people to achieve their full potential for physical activity.

We strive to bring Illinois residents on a journey where:

  • Streets are filled with people walking for exercise, leisure and transportation;
  • Schools are alive with physically active students engaged in fun, standards-based curricular activities;
  • Crosswalks are filled with children walking, rolling and cycling to school; and
  • Parks and playing fields are enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities.

One step at a time, we are helping people Get Active and Get Going. Sign up NOW!
